The fourth edition of the Tunisie Challenge, taking place from October 9 to 18, 2024, is packed with exciting new features. Our goal has been to enhance the adventurous spirit of the competition and explore new horizons. The changes for this edition impact both the design of the itinerary and the course itself.
Two brand-new stages have been added, and three others have been extensively revamped. The overall increase in difficulty is driven by the extended distance of the stages, making this edition a truly demanding and unforgettable experience for all participants. A total of seventy teams have registered to embark on this unique adventure.
This edition promises to offer the most diverse terrains. The challenge will kick off along the northern coast of Tunisia, where participants will enjoy spectacular scenery, including cliffs, white sandy beaches with crystal-clear waters, and towering coastal dunes, presenting challenges similar to those of the desert.
It’s worth noting that the Tunisie Challenge will begin at the northernmost geographical point of the African continent, Cape Angela, near the city of Bizerte, where the vehicle inspections will also take place. From there, the route will extend southward through Tunisia, culminating, as tradition dictates, on the island of Djerba. This itinerary is one of the most varied we’ve ever designed, following a north-to-south route that has never been done before.
To reach the gateway to the desert, participants will need to cross plains, dry rivers and lakes, canyons, and the first sandy tracks. The course will pass through iconic locations from the legendary Star Wars film saga and several sites of great historical and cultural significance.
The Tunisie Challenge will then enter the Grand Erg Oriental, where teams will face all the difficulties and challenges the dunes have to offer. Participants will enjoy a night in a camp set deep in the desert before finishing with a spectacular coastal route on the island of Djerba.
