The third edition of the Tunisie Challenge starts off this Saturday with a spectacular stretch along Hammamet beach.
It will be the starting point for an edition with many new features, a renewed itinerary and great prospects for a unique experience in a majestic environment that will be an absolute paradise for 4×4 enthusiasts.
This edition, with 60 teams signed up, represents a new challenge for all participants and one of its big attractions will be that it both begins and ends with a section along the sea shore. To be noted also, is the large Italian participation, with 35 teams, followed by the French with 10.
The event, which counts on the support of the National Tourist Office and the Tunisian Automobile Federation, starts this Saturday from Hammamet beach, the touristic town that will host the administrative and technical verifications on Friday. The event will end on the island of Djerba on Wednesday, October 18, where the traditional awards ceremony will take place the following day. There will be stage finishes in Tozeur, Douz, Tembaine (where the overnight bivouac will be located), Matmata and Djerba.
The itinerary has been largely renewed, with some completely new stages, although the sand and dunes will once again be the protagonists. In the second reconnaissance that we recently completed, we found that the lack of rain and the extreme heat this summer means the sand is looser and softer, making conditions somewhat more complicated.
The experience accrued on previous editions has allowed us to improve the routes, adapt them to the characteristics of the event and also discover mythical places in the Grand Erg Oriental. Our aim has been to design itineraries that meet the expectations of our more seasoned participants, who will find all types of tracks and terrain, while suiting a wider variety of participants. The routes, as always, will be tailored to each category.
